•  Have you ever wondered if laughter has any brain benefits? The answer is Yes.

Do you know it not only does it have a lot of benefits for your body? For your brain, it also improves your productivity and your motivation. So we are talking about the health benefits of laughter.

You’ve probably heard the adage that laughter is the best medicine. Well, this couldn’t be more true.  In actual fact, laughter increases the blood flow to the brain. It oxygenates the brain and it helps with not just feeling better. But it helps with anxiety and depression. It also decreases stress in the body. It shortstops stress hormones in the body. And it gives the sympathetic nervous system the cue to relax.

So, laughter doesn’t just help your body relax. It also improves your immunity and how well your body and all of your neurochemicals do the work they need to do.

Are there other benefits to laughter? The answer is YES!

In fact, laughter also improves your cardiovascular health. New research has an example out of Norway that shows that people who laugh more often don’t just have better vasoconstriction and dilation but actually have less arteriosclerosis. They end up with heart muscles that are stronger. And so, laughter as it turns out improves your overall health, your immunity. It also increases your life expectancy. People who laugh more are projected to living longer.

We also talked about the health benefits of smiling and the fact that smiling increases your confidence, your dominance, your productivity, and ultimately your success. It also improves your attractability, how attracted people rate you, how likable people rate you. And so, as it would turn out, laughter helps in all of these ways as well.

I think laughter is also really good medicine if you’re having a moment of stress or overwhelmed. Let’s say at work where what you feel is that you are starting to lag, your productivity is starting to go downhill. If you can find something to laugh about something funny then you are much better poised to be more productive and be more motivated throughout your workday. So you know that laughter has definitive brain-based benefits for productivity and motivation even in the workplace.
